Hip-Hop B-Love Show: The Harlem Renaissance Series (Jazz Mix)

Honored to collab with my favorite Bay Area Lindy Hop & Jazz teacher Traci Bartlow aka “B-Love” on this jazz mix. Nothing but dance floor jazz goodness from Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Cab Calloway, Fats Waller, Lionel Hampton, and more!

A lot of tracks heard from Traci’s Lindy Hop classes as well as a few of my personal favorites. Had a lot of fun working on this with Traci.

Show her some love on her soundcloud page

Can anyone guess the Hip-Hop songs using these jazz samples in the 30 second intro of this mix? Thumbs up to those who can guess the original song and artist as well =).

  2. Ed Word Galán says:

    K-OS superstar?

  3. Dennis Infante says:

that can be one of them yes! Now what did Superstar sample, and what did THAT sample, get it's original source =)

  4. Ed Word Galán says:

    it's also SOHO-hot music

  5. Ed Word Galán says:

    Wynton Marsalis Skain's Domain

  6. Ed Word Galán says:

a dj at the Malcolm X festival dropped Wynton and then started looping at the 3:55 mark… It was so sick. If he had dropped Hot music right after i would lost my mind dancing

  7. Dennis Infante says:

look up Soho's "More Hot Music". It samples another loop on Skain's Domain. Pretty sick too

  8. Ed Word Galán says:

tight I like it. Just moved the loop a few beats forward.

  9. I heard Gangstarr 'Words i manifest', Black Sheep "Choice is Yours" [McCoy Tyner], ATCQ "Jazz", Moon Dog 'Bird's Lament' (don't know what hiphop song sampled it), and Soho.

  10. Francis Jopanda says:

    Moondog-Bird's Lament

  11. Dennis Infante says:

Good job y'all. You WOULD know, Augustin Nguyen haha

  12. Man, when life is now all about nap times & diapers, I jumped on the opportunity to play one of my favorite games–name that sample haha.
