Battle Format:
Preliminary showcase: show case to select top 16 (one throw down each dancer); upon registration, dancers signing up will specify whether they are a bboy, popper/locker, house, hip hop, etc; for the prelim we will group the dancers and play there style of music to select the top 16 dancers.
Top 16:
1st and 2nd rounds- Battles will consist of two throw downs each dancer. Each throw down will consist of both dancers styles; in other words, you will have to dance to your own style, your opponents style; this is where a well rounded dancer will prevail
Final battle: there will be a total of three throw downs each dancer; first two throw downs will consist of each dancers style and the last throw down will be a wild card where the DJ selects the style of music which will be different from each dancers specific style.
Disclaimer: The idea is to keep every throw down fresh. Do not attempt to dance a different style if you don’t have that in your arsenal. In other words, if you are not a locker or never practice locking, do not hurt yourself in a battle standpoint by trying to be something you’re not. Represent what you know!
Selection of judges: We wanted three judges who are from different dance crews, have different dance backgrounds, and explore in other areas of dance.
