ABOUT VIKTOR MANOEL:
Viktor Manoel is a Mexican-American dancer, choreographer, writer, and actor. He is a native Punking/Posing/Whacking pioneer, mentor, maverick, athlete, humanitarian, and father. Viktor is the last living “OG” punker/waacker from the original crew that started the dance in the 70s. Throughout his career, Viktor has danced in popular movies such as Grease II, Staying Alive, Breakin’ 2, and performed with acclaimed artists such as Lionel Richie, Diana Ross, Grace Jones, and Julio Iglesias.

ABOUT WAACKING/PUNKING:
Waacking (originally called punking) is an underground dance style born out of the gay club scene in Los Angeles during the 70s disco/funk era. Waacking has recently had a resurgence in popularity and now many young dancers train in the style. The style first reached mainstream pop culture via Soul Train and has more recently been featured on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew, So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars, and more. The dance can be characterized as a jazz-influenced style with intricate arm movements executed to the beat of the music.

ABOUT REDISCO:
Why don’t we really dance anymore? Packed bars and overpriced clubs centered on table service shouldn’t be nightlife norms. Inspired by the 1970-80s disco-art phenomenon, Redisco is an SF based experience collective dedicated to cultivating dance culture and supporting local artists. We’re building a brand and like-minded community leading a movement that will reinvigorate social life nationwide.

ABOUT SOULYZTIK:
SOULyztik is an urban arts community organization that seeks to foster conscious, creative expressions of the SOUL. SOULyztik supports local urban artists with their individual pursuits and dreams, while bridging our collective responsibility to elevate the community through awareness and action.
