Rock The School Bells 2012

Performing at this years Rock The School Bells with GroovMekanex! Gonna be a collaboration with other dancers from the community. The whole piece is on a theatrical tip, directed by Chaz “Funkee Asiatic” of GroovMekanex.

Mark your calendars with a fat tip sharpie! We are pleased to announce that Rock The School Bells (RTSB) is back for its 5th year! To celebrate our 5th year, this year’s theme is KNOWLEDGE.

This year’s conference is FREE for all youth and students. Donations are always welcome at the event. You can register for the conference at Conference registration will begin Monday, January 30!

We will provide interactive workshops, panel discussions, live art, and performances. We will have a Lunch Special Emcee Battle hosted by Vitamin Water.

“Popping/Waving/Animation & Control” by Jay Smooth of Machine Gone Funk.

“Art and Business: One Will Meet the Other” by JJ Casas.

“Lyrics To Go” by Ken Times, MS; Rod Agbunag, MS; Michael Benjamin.

“The Legacy of Bay Area Hip Hop Culture” by Dregs One

“Health and Hip Hop HUSTLE” by Mimi Jones, RN.

“Hip Hop, Chess, and Life Strategies” by Adisa Banjoko.

“The Cipher” by Deep Foundation.

“DJ Fundamentals” by Mista B and the Beatz.

“Breaknomics & Hip Hop 360” by Zulu Gremlin.

“Letter Form & Graffiti Mural” by Cio & Fury.


The conference will go from 9:00-4:30PM with breakfast snacks, refreshments, and lunch provided.

After the conference, the Universal Zulu Nation (UZN) – All Tribes SF will host an All-Styles Dance Battle from 4:30-6:00PM. For more details, please email

We will close out the evening with our Rock The School Bells concert from 7:00-9:30PM with performances ranging from emceeing, dance, turntable exhibitions, and beatboxing. For the first time at Rock The School Bells, the concert will be kicked off by an amazing dance production you do not want to miss!
